Sharing is caring

I've just come across a hadith which i just had to share.

Sahih Muslim Hadith 6370 Narrated by AbuHurayrah

AbuHassan said to AbuHurayrah: My two children had died. Would you narrate to me
anything from Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) a hadith which would soothe our
hearts in our bereavements? He said: Yes. Small children are the fowls of Paradise. If one
of them meets his father (or he said his parents) he would take hold of his cloth, or he said
with his hand as I take hold of the hem of your cloth (with my hand). And he (the child)
would not take off (his hand) from it until Allah causes his father to enter Paradise.  This
hadith has been narrated on the authority of Tamim with the same chain of transmitters.
And he is reported to have said: Did you hear from Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him)
anything which may soothe our heart in our bereavements? He said: Yes.

It starts at home...

It's a big responsibility for the parents teaching their children the right path of Islam, more so the mother as she spends the most time with the kidos. This enormous responisbility has always scared me, wondering would i be able to do it? Will i be teaching the correct way? And HOW would i do it?

The mother's responsibility in bringing up the children and forming their characters is greater than that of the father, because children tend to spend more time with her.  Hence the woman who understands the teachings of Islam and her own educational role in life, knows her complete responsibility for the upbringing of her children, as is referred to in the Quran:

[O you who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones] Quran 66:6
The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) also referred to this responsibility in his hadeeth:
"Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. The leader is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock; a man is the shepherd of his family and is responsible for his flock; a woman is the shepherd in the house of her husband and is responsible for her flock; a servant is the shepherd of his master's wealth and is responsible for it. Each of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock." (Bukhari and Muslim)
Islam places responsibility on the shoulders of every individual; not one person is left out. mothers - are made responsible for providing their children with a solid upbringing and sound Islamic education, based on the noble characteristics that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) declared that he had been sent to complete and spread among people:
"I have only been sent to make righteous behavior complete." (Bukhari)

We have from the begining introduced islamic words to our children such as:

- Aslamu alaykum
- Walaikum aslam
- Alhamdullilah
- Jazzaka mulla khairah
- Inshallah

Now with my eldest being 3 years old, he is very interested in his alphabet, numbers etc. So i thought this the perfect opportunity to teach him the arabic alphabet. He has his own alphabet book and i have downloaded numerous apps for children and he loves them. He learnt his english alphabet from one of the apps so i thought it'll be easy enough inshallah for him to pick up the the arapic too. Mashallah he remembers and recognises some of the letters now. I've also got the kids dua app too which is brilliant. I would definately recommend searching for some childrens islamic apps. It's ideal for those of us who don't always get time. My son just picks up my phone and goes through his favourite apps through out the day as and when he wishes. Which is great as i don't need to force him to sit down to learn and he does it of his own accord, alhamdullilah.

We as parents are role models for our children. They imitate what we do so therefore it is very important to set a good example. Whether its our manners or practicing our deen children will look and learn. Praying my salah, reading the Quran and doing ebaadah is something i try and do infront of my children so they know it's a very important part of our daily lives. As it is from home they learn first. If the deen isn't implemented at home then learning from outside wont have that much of an impact i feel.

What are your views?

Is it important to teach your children Islam at home? or should we rely on masjids?

I would love to learn how you bring Islam into your childrens lives?

Especially in Ramadhan you would want to remember Allah as much as you can. This book is perfect for just that. There is also an app for this particular book aswel, which is wonderful and so convenient for people like me who keep forgetting to carry the book.

Go and buy it and remember Allah in every act you do.

My favourite hadith of the week

Abu Huraira said the Messenger (S) of Allah (T) said: "The supplications of three groups of people's are not rejected; the du'aa (Supplication) of the fasting person when he is breaking his fast, the du'aa of the just Imam and the du'aa of the oppressed." [Tirmidhee, Ibn Majah and Ibn Hibbaan]

My Favourite Quranic verse of the week

The last revelation from Allah (swt) to His Prophet (saws) was the third verse of Surah Al-Maidah, which was sent down to the Prophet in 632 C.E. in the month of Ramadhan.

"Al yawma akmaltu lakum dinakam wa atmamtualaikam ni'mati wa raditu' lakumul islama dinan'',"

"Today I perfected your religion for you and completed my favor to you and have chosen for you Al-Islam as your religion." (5:3)

Sahoor - The Pre-dawn Meal (the blessed meal)

AS-SAHOOR (The Pre-dawn meal of Ramadhaan)

The Wisdom of Sahoor
{O you who believe Fasting is prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you so that perhaps you may attain Taqwaa.} [Al-Baqarah 2 : 183]

In the first period of Islam, the lenght and rules of fasting were in accordance with what was stated by Allah upon the People of the Book. They were not allowed to eat, drink or engage in sexual intercourse after they slept. That is when one sleeps, he could not eat nor do any of the above until the night of the following day, which meant no Sahoor.

When the above ruling was abrogated, the Messenger (S) commanded the Muslims to take the Sahoor to differentiate in our fasting from the fasting of the People of the Book. 'Amr Ibn al-Aas reported that the Messenger of Allah (S) said: "The distinguishing feature between our fast and the fast of the People of the Book is in the eating at the time just before dawn." [Muslim]

The Barakah in Sahoor

Allahs Messenger Called Sahoor the blessed meal. Salmaan (R) said that the Messenger of Allah (S) said: Blessings are found in three things, the Group (Al-Jama'ah), Ath-thareed (a type of food) and As-Sahoor (the Pre-dawn meal)." [At-Tabaraanee, Abu Na'eem]
Abu Hurairah (R) said that the Messenger (S) of Allah (T) said: "Verily Allah placed Barakah (blessing) in the Sahoor and in perfect measurement (weighing)."[Ash-Shairazee]
'Abdullah Ibn Haarith said that one of the Sahabah (companion) said: 'I entered the house of the Messenger (S) whilst he was taking the Sahoor (pre-dawn meal), and he (S) said: "Indeed it (the Sahoor) is blessing that Allah has given to you so do not leave it out." [An-Nasaaee and Ahmad]

The greatest blessing of the Sahoor may be that Allah (T) engulfs those who partake in it with His Forgiveness, showers His Mercy on them, while His angels ask of Him to forgive and pardon them.
Abu Sa'eed al-Khudree said that the Messenger (S) said: "Eating the Sahoor is blessed. Do not neglect it even if you take a gulp of water, because Allah and His angels invoke blessings upon those who partake in the pre-dawn meal." [Ahmad]
It is in our advantage that we do not allow this great blessing from his Merciful Lord to escape him.

What is recommended for the Muslim to eat for Sahoor

The Messenger (S) said: "The best Sahoor for the believer is dates." [Abu Dawood, Al-Baihaqee and Ibn Hibbaan]

Delaying the Sahoor

It is recommended to delay the Sahoor till just before dawn. Zaid ibn Thaabit said: "We ate the Sahoor with the Messenger (S), then we got up to offer the Salaah (prayer - in this case the Fajr prayer). I asked "What was the time between the Adhaan (call to prayer) and the Sahoor?" He said: "(The time it would take) to recite fifty verses." [Bukhaaree and Muslim]

The Ruling for Sahoor

He (S) said: "Whoever wishes to fast, then let him eat something for Sahoor." [Ibn Abi Shaibah, Ahmad and others]
And he (S) also said: "Take the Sahoor because in the Sahoor is Barakah (blessings)."[Bukhaaree and Muslim]

Preparation for Ramadhan

Preparation is key to make the most of your time in Ramadhan. Therefore it is much better we prepare and plan for our deeni activity, much like we do for the dunya ones and inshallah in this manner we can make the most of the blessed month of Ramadan and remain consistent upon the character we adopt.

With Ramadan due to start on the 20th Inshallah I thought it would be good to make a list of things in preparation for Ramadan.
  • Increase in recitation of the Quraan. Set yourself targets If possible, complete a minimum of 1 part to daily so as to make 1 whole complete recital of the Holy Quran during Ramadan. If you can recite more than why not.

  • Try and perform tahajjud before partaking in Suhoor.

  • Learn duas in Arabic.

  • Do Dhikr eg: La ilaaha illallah, Allahu-akbar, Subhan-Allah, Alhumdulillah etc.

  • Devoting more sincerity and concentration into our existing daily prayers.

  •  Try to refrain from back biting.

  • Read and gain knowldge.

  • Memorise Hadiths and Surahs.

Have you prepared for Ramadhan?

Indulging moments

It has to be done. Us women need to treat ourselves as frequently as possible.

My hands are very dry and i'm always looking for products to improve the dryness so I decided to visit Lush a couple of days ago and got some goodies. I purchased four products:

1. Silky underwear bottle - Ok this product is a bottle of powder which you put on your skin and your skin feels sooo smooth.

2. Each peach massage bar - Moisturising Bar which you just wipe on your skin. The warmth from your skin melts it onto your skin. This product actually smells of lemons and not peach. I have been using it however i'm still not to sure about the Peach bar.

3. Big Buffy - If you want nice, soft moisturised skin after a shower then i would recommend this exfoliating bar.  This product also has a oil in it can't remember which one but its great for people with dry skin and you don't have to use a moisturising lotion after.  It Removes dead skin leaving it smooth and polished.

4, Lip Sugar Scrub - Yummy Bubble gum flavour lip scrub which you can eat as well! Removes dead skin and leaves lips soft.

I popped into tescos to get a tin of chick peas and ended up purchasing to other items:

1. Garnier Pure Active Exfo brusher wash - This facewash has a brush on it so you squeeze the facewash onto the brush and you apply it on your face in circular motions. I love this. I could feel the difference instantly. My face felt so soft.

2. Skin Wisdom Youth Protect - A Daily moisturiser with spf 15. It leaves skin  feeling toned conditioned after 4 weeks. I have only used it twice so i will keep you updated on the results inshallah.

Have you tried any of these products?

Anything you can recommened for dry skin?

What matters?

There are time in your life you will feel like your missunderstood whilst trying your best to be a good person because thats what Islam teaches.  You keep your intentions pure, to please Allah SWT and your intentions are doubted. Your every move is questioned, you feel suffocated and depressed.

We were put on this dunya for one reason only which is to follow Allahs commands. The shaytan will do as much as he can to prevent you from doing this. You try and try but in the eyes of others it just isnt enough and it makes you feel worthless. Should you give up. NO! Because ultimately who are we doing this for, to please the dunya or our Lord? Our Lord of course and we should always remind ourselves of this and Inshallah the weak and negative thoughts will keep at a distance.

If people who are going to be obstacles on your path of Deen then give them a back seat in your lives. Strive to be the best possible muslim you can be. Dont let the negativity win!

How do you overcome situations in which your charcter is doubted?

Fill your banks with cash or good deeds

Having nice houses, flash cars and expensive clothes is that what our lives are about. Is that the reason why we were put on this dunya by Allah SWT? Material things, do they really belong to us? Are they really ours?

These luxurious we have come from Allah and if He wishes He can take them away. Ultimately We were put on this earth to serve our Lord, to do what pleases Him not to run after this dunya. We need to collect our good deeds because the more we have the better our hereafter will be inshallah.

Managing my time in Ramadhan

To make the most of my Ramadhan i set myself goals and try my best to reach them. It is difficult and i dont always manage :(. This is normally due to poor preparation and organisation.  This year i'm hoping to use my time wisely inshallah.

Firstly, i will be making a list of  things i would like to achieve. My aim is to finish the Quran atleast once in Ramadhan. Since i've had my children it has been very difficult to do so in Ramadhan. I would love to memories atleast five Surahs  and Hadiths. My Memory is very poor so if i accomplish this i would be over the moon. I am going to spend more time with my son teaching him about Islam and the importance of the blessed month.  And Read, gain as much knowledge as possible.

Secondly, i will be making a timetable. A routine is always good and helps to manage your time wisely. I dont want to be cleaning and cooking all day in Ramadhan.

Have you thought about how you will spend your time in Ramadhan?

Do you spend most of your time cooking?

Count down to Ramadhan begins :)

Its the 10th July 2012 already the years flowns by and Ramadhans around the corner again Alhamdullilah. Preparations for the blessed months have begun.

Last year my husband borrowed a very detailed transalation of the Quran with examples from the Hadith. With others wanting to borrow the Quran i couldnt keep it for long unfortunetly. So we decided to go book shopping afew months ago and we have stocked up on all the books we have been meaning to get for a while.

We moved into our house about 5 months ago and i've finally manage to unpack all the boxes. I've still got bits to do like feature wallpaper in two rooms and i really wanted to paint something for the boys on their bedroom wall. I really need to get that done before Ramadhan so i can concentrate on making the most of the beautiful month.

My eldest son is three and i'd really want him to be involved in Ramadhan. Not fasting but just having some sort of understanding of the importance this month has for us muslims. I'm thinking of ideas to get him involved and enjoy it to while learning about our beautiful deen.

How do you teach your children about your religion?

At what age do you think you should start teaching them?

Even mummies deserve pampering

Asalamualaykum dear sisters,

I think every mum forgets about herself when she has a baby. You go shopping and pick out things for the bundle of joy in your life, however very rearly get something for yourself. I stopped treating myself when i had my first son who is now 3 mashallah. You want the best for your children and want to spent every penny on them. Although i feel you matter too. If your happy then your babies are happy too.

So, now i spoil myself as much as i can. I do it as frequently as i can as i feel its very important to feel special and good about yourself. It could be the smallest of things. You dont have to book a pamper day every week. You could just paint your nails one evening or treat yourself to little something when you go shopping or even have a soak in the bath.

It might not be much but today i took out time while my husband dearest was off from work and was looking after the boys. I pampered myself with some products i got from bodyshop. A couple of  days ago i bought special edition musk body lotion and perfume, They smelt absolutely gorgeous. Anyway the sales assistant offered a loyalty card with which you get 10% of with each purchase. So i got that for £3.50, i was given the choice to pick a bodywash for free with the card. I had 3 options Apricot and Basil, pear and i dont remember the other one although i chose Apricot and basil because the smell was delicious. I dyed my hair today too, the colour i got was light blonde however having very dark brown her it turned out the way i hoped which is a slightly lighter shade to my orginal hair colour. You may think what is the point  but i could notice the difference even if my mum couldnt lol. And i like it. Now i am indulging in some scrumptious lindl chocolates...yummy.

How often do you pamper yourself?
